The IT Field Engineer role is to assist the IT department with new store IT installations, IT Project installations and resolving issues out in the field. The field engineer will help support the IT function in resolving IT issues with the group estate, ad hoc work and projects.

Your area of responsibility:

  • You will be responsible for the installation of JD IT hardware at the handover of a new shop, including tills, PCs, access points, printers etc.
  • You will also be responsible for configuring IT equipment and setting up IT pallets.
  • Completing paperwork/audits for new shops will also be part of your role.
  • You will be responsible for the maintenance of the JD IT system.
  • Responding to urgent IT issues, including on-site diagnosis and resolution.
  • Site surveys and assessment of cabling and repair of IT equipment.
  • You will be responsible for documenting on-site IT equipment and installing network devices.
  • Liaising with IT operations in the event of problems, orders and enquiries is also one of your tasks.
  • Supporting the IT Operations Manager in the planning and management of major rollouts.

What you should bring with you:

  • You preferably have experience in a retail environment
  • Ideally you already have experience as a field service technician
  • You are characterised by your excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills in an IT environment
  • Ideally, but not necessarily, you have an understanding of IT ticket management systems
  • You have a valid passport and a valid driving licence
  • Willingness to travel within the EU three days a week
  • You have a good command of written and spoken English
